As scholarship information arrive they will be placed on the announcement sheet, on the wall next to the Guidance Department, and updated here.  Please listen closely to all senior announcements.  Listed below are information you may be interested in.

ACT Information

The next ACT will be given on June 9, 2007.  The regular deadline to apply will be May 4, 2007.  Late fee required May 5-18, 2007.

Cost:  ACT only $29.00 - ACT + Writing $43.00

Late registration add $19.00, Standby testing add $39.00

Students that meet certain financial needs may see Mrs. Bessix for a FEE WAIVER.  Fee waivers may only be used once.

ACT Online Study Guide

Livonia High School has purchased an online ACT Test Preparation Program.  Any student may use the software to help them prepare for the ACT Test.  If you are interested in using the online version of this program, then please follwo the instructions below.

  • Fill out the Student Registration Form for the ACT Online Study Guide and return it to Mrs. Bessix or Ms. Young.  You will be entered into the database within three days of returning the form.
  • Three days after returning your form, use the Instruction Sheet to access the online study guide.
  • Any questions concerning this online study should be directed to Mrs. Bessix or Ms. Young.

SPECIAL SENIOR INFORMATION

NCAA Student Athletes - If you are planning to play intercollegiate athletics in college, you must register with the NCAA before you get to college.  NCAA prefers that you register online at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net  See Coach Brewerton or Mrs. Bessix for further information.

TOPS

The Tuition Opportunity Program will pay tuition to Louisiana public colleges and Technical colleges.  Students must meet certain high school academic requirements.  Pick up a TOPS brochure or a TOPS Tech brochure to assure you are taking the correct courses.

REMINDER:  TOPS will be calculated on your CORE GPA only

 

IMPORTANT TIPS

  • The college you are interested in attending is the best source for seeking scholarship aid.  Contact the financial aid office.

  • Investigate the possibility of scholarships through your parents work.

  • If you have a special skill (ex. music, art, athletics) speak with that teacher.

  • Louisiana Rehabilitation Services are available for students with physical or mental impairments.  Contact Ms. A. Chustz who will put you in touch with our Rehabilitation person from this area.
  • For Federal Pell Grants and other aid, students must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Applications should be available in the Guidance Office in mid December.

  • If you need a letter of recommendation please have on hand an information sheet about your accomplishments to issue to the person writing your recommendation.
